The Professional Year (PY) program in Australia is a structured initiative designed for career development, aimed at enhancing a student’s overall abilities. It involves working in a professional environment to develop comprehensive skills, with the primary goal of securing employment in the student’s chosen field.
The program focuses on applying technical skills and knowledge in the Australian workplace and culture, fostering effective communication in such an environment. It includes an internship that acquaints participants with various work practices, addressing intricacies relevant to their nominated skilled occupation or closely related field.
To qualify for the Professional Year program in Australia, you must have completed your studies within the country. Additionally, you need to meet the following criteria:
The candidate must have graduated from a course aligned with the chosen Professional Year program. The applicant should have completed a Higher Education program in Australia, accumulating two years of credit points over a minimum of 18 months.
Candidates must hold or have applied for the subclass 485 Temporary Residence visa, whether on a Bridging or Student visa, providing evidence accordingly. 485 visa holders need a valid visa for the Professional Year program’s duration.
A successful skill assessment (e.g., ACS, EEA, CPA, IPA, ICAA) is required.
Candidates must have a minimum overall IELTS test score of 6.0, with no band score below 6, to be eligible for a Professional Year.
Professional Year fees in Australia range from AUD 7,000 to AUD 15,500.
